A Grantham company has played its part in an amazing countrywide charity fund-raiser.

LRS, of Belton Lane, which sells, repairs and services garden machinery lent its help to a trio of fundraisers who rode around the country on lawnmowers to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

Peter Hennessy and Myles Lancaster, of LRS, helped to service the three ride-on lawnmowers in Billingborough and make sure they were in good working order before they resumed their 2,200 mile journey.

Daz Whitehead, Tony Dwight and Paul Tindall, who all know each other through lawnmower racing, were the three riders taking part in the Lawn Way Round challenge. They have finished their trip and hope to raise about £4,000.

The challenge began in Tenbury Wells, Herefordshire, with the men doing around 300 miles a day at speeds of up to 53mph on their tuned up machines with racing seats, beefed-up brakes and blades removed for safety.
