Grantham company pays tribute to finance director killed in A52 crash

A tribute has been paid to the finance director of a Grantham Company who was killed in a car crash on the A52 on Monday.

Derek Chick, 60, was driving his Land Rover Discovery between Sedgebrook and Muston, near to Cox’s Walk Farm, when the incident happened.

Philip Rann, Chairman of Totemic, said: “We are all deeply saddened that Totemic has lost one of our key people who added the mortar to the fortress that is the company. What has been taken away is an intelligent, worldly non-judgemental person who put his heart and soul into our business and cared passionately about its successes and failures.”

Mr Rann added: “Derek was a funny, caring and deeply professional man who we relied on for good unbiased advice – he will be sorely missed by many of his friends and colleagues in this business.”

The driver of the other car involved in the incident, a 22-year-old man from North Yorkshire who was driving an Astra, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has subsequently been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw either the silver Land Rover or the grey Vauxhall Astra before the collision or saw the collision to contact them via the Lincolnshire Police Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855, or on 101 quoting incident 338 of April 13.
