Grantham couple enjoy garden party at Buckingham Palace

By Grantham Reporter

Grantham couple Richard and Andrea Coppin enjoyed a Buckingham Palace Garden Party with the Queen last Thursday.

After receiving the invite in March, and choosing one of three dates, the pair were taken to London by Chauffeur VIP of Grantham, right up to the palace gates.

Richard said it was “quite surreal and a great thrill” to pass through the palace grounds where so much history has happened.

At 4pm, the Queen arrived and the couple got within ten feet of the monarch, with it being “quite a moment to see her in person.”

They then wandered around the palace gardens before heading home, amid a fine day, when the rest of London suffered a deluge.

As is tradition, Buckingham Palace didn’t say why the couple were invited. But they believe it is linked to Andrea’s work with the events group that helped create Grantham Christmas market and the St George’s Day event and signboards Richard made for Grantham Civic Society.
