The case against a Grantham man accused of three shops thefts was adjourned to January 18 for preparation of a pre-sentence report by the probation service.

Ian Hutchinson, 37, of Uplands Drive, Grantham, admitted the theft of alcohol, valued at £333.97, from Waitrose in Stamford on October 9. He also admitted the theft of an electric toothbrush, valued at £250 from Boots in Grantham, and the theft of clothing, value unknown, from Matalan in Grantham on November 4. Magistrates agreed to the adjournment after being told that Hutchinson was due to appear at court in Nottingham the following day.

Hutchinson was granted bail on condition he did not enter any retail premises except three named stores – Asda, and McColl’s and Lloyds Pharmacy in New Beacon Road – and did not contact one named person.
