Police found cannabis on a man they searched in the early hours in Corby Glen.

The pair were on patrol on the A151 at 1.30am when they saw Steven Andrew Mohammed, 23, walking alone in the village.

Mohammed, of Colster Way, Colsterworth, admitted possessing a quantity of cannabis on September 26.

Prosecuting, Paul Wood told the court that the police officers found three small bags of the drug on Mohammed and he said they were for his own use.

Defending, Chris Pye-Smith said unemployed Mohammed had issues with drug and alcohol abuse and had referred himself to DART (Drug and Alcohol Recovery Team). Mr Pye-Smith said: “The time has come for him to get himself sorted out and move forward with his life. He has plans to get into employment in due course.”

Magistrates fined Mohammed £75 with costs of £40 and a victim surcharge of £20.

They ordered the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed.
