A sex offender says he forgot to notify police of his details after he went abroad.

James Bacon, 43, of High Road, Barrowby, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of the sex offenders register and was a week late in re-notifying the police of his details.

Prosecuting, Jim Clare said Bacon had to be reminded he was a week later in re-registering with the police. He then went straight to the station.

Defending, Simon Cobb said that last year Bacon went abroad on holiday and had to register then.He believed it was another year from then that he had to re-register. Mr Cobb said this was ‘an oversight’.

He was fined £80 and told to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
