A takeaway customer racially abused staff and pushed a till off a counter because he was unhappy with his food.

Kaspars Runkauskis, 30, of Gresley Court, Grantham, admitted racially aggravated criminal damage and causing racially aggravated alarm or distress in City Chicken, Butchers Row. The court heard Runkauskis called the staff “f****** Pakis”.

Magistrates were told Runkauskis was drunk and could not remember using racist words. He represented himself and chose to say nothing in his defence.

He was ordered to carry out 60 hours’ unpaid work and pay £250 compensation for the damage to the till, £85 costs, and a £60 victim surcharge.
