Two young women appeared in court charged with assaulting two female police constables.

Courtney Rowarth, 18, of Edward Street in Grantham and Bethany Wagstaff, 20, of Launds Green in South Witham had been charged with assaulting two different policewomen in the execution of their duty on May 25, when they were both still teenagers.

However prosecutor Marie Stace argued that their offences were more appropriate to be dealt with through a caution or restorative justice, and applied for a month-long adjournment so that their cases could be referred back to police.

Magistrates agreed to adjourn the case until July 7.
