Grantham debt firm wins national award

Grantham-based national free debt advice provider PayPlan has been recognised at the 2018 Credit Awards, picking up the Debt Advice Provider of the Year Award.

PayPlan, which provides free debt advice and debt management plans for thousands of people across the UK every year, was recognised for its commitment to improving customer engagement using its new digital channel.

By using digital channels, such as email, live chat and secure online forms the company says it has encouraged more clients to engage with debt advice online, as well as over the phone. In doing so, it has also helped to remove some of the barriers for those people who find it difficult to talk about their money problems.

Debt is still a ‘taboo’ that some people might be embarrassed to talk about money and these platforms ensure those in need of debt advice can reach out without the fear of judgement. PayPlan says 68 per cent of its clients now prefer to get in touch using its digital channels, such as live chat and email.

The award also recognises PayPlan’s contributions to the industry by supporting with training and for its commitment to close partnership working that is allowing clients to more easily access debt advice sooner.

PayPlan CEO Rachel Duffey commented: "We are thrilled to have achieved the award of Debt Advice Provider of the Year at this prestigious industry event.

"It is great to see the hard work of our teams at PayPlan paying off and that our digital debt advice services are helping those who want debt advice to access it when they want it.

"We have seen more people engaging with debt advice since launching our digital channels and would like to thank our partners who have supported our work.”

PayPlan, which is based in the Springfield Business Park, edged out industry competitors StepChange Debt Charity and Christians Against Poverty to collect the top prize. The award was presented by comedian Katherine Ryan at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
