Grantham family fun event will raise funds for Karl who has rare cancer
The family of a Grantham man who has a rare cancer have organised a fun event in the town to raise money for treatment and research.
The event will take place at The Meres Leisure Centre on tomorrow (Saturday, July 9), to raise funds of Karl Bullimore, who has bladder cancer.
The event will take place in the main sports hall between 3pm and 5pm and feature a bouncy castle, assault course, tombola, games, tabletop sales, an afternoon tea for adults, a raffle and more.
Then from 5pm to 6pm, over-eights and competent swimmers can move into the pool area for full use of the fun pool, main pool and Juggernaut inflatable.
Karl’s daughter Karla said: “So many Grantham businesses have helped us and become involved in the event. They have been amazing and many are donating afternoon teas or prizes for the raffle.”
Tickets for the event cost £5 and are available from Kelly on 07855 230345 or email email@example.com
Money is also being raised for Karl by two photographers who are producing a 2017 calendar featuring some of the finest landscapes from around the country.
Francis Taylor and Adam Sherratt are combining some of their best work to create the calendar to raise money for the ‘Fix our Father’ campaign.

Karl’s family started raising the money for Karl after he was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer in October last year. It is an aggressive and extremely rare form of the disease. Fewer than one per cent of all bladder cancers are of this type.
Karl’s family have found a specialist oncologist in London. The family says there are drugs available privately which are more effective than those on the NHS and can be combined with those Karl is taking to fight the cancer.
Karl is well known in sporting circles in the town. He is a member of Grantham Swimming Club and played football for Harrowby United. He also played table tennis in local leagues.
