A firefighter has cycled more than 1,000 miles across the country to raise money for Cancer Research.

Ben Selby joined two friends from Nottingham on the ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats which took two weeks and is the equivalent of climbing two Mount Everests.

Ben, who is chairman of the Lincolnshire branch of the Fire Brigades Union, said Cornwall and the Highlands of Scotland were the most difficult parts of the trip.

Ben has raised more than £1,300 so far and said he was very pleased. He said: “We got back on Saturday. The ride itself was not too bad. I am very pleased with the amount I have raised so far.”

He added: “We are all affected by cancer in some way and we are trying to do our bit to eradicate this disease completely.”
