Grantham football match in memory of Danny Walsh raises £2,230 for air ambulance
A special football match and family day held in memory of Danny Walsh has raised a magnificent £2,230.
The proceeds from the memorial event will be donated to the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
One of the organisers, Trevor Fox said: “It was a great turnout with some new faces and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“The family of Danny would like thank everyone who helped throughout the whole event and all the generous people that gave towards the Lincs and Notts Air ambulance.”
The event was held at Harrowby United Football ground in memory of Grantham man Danny who died in an incident in Edinburgh Road in the town in 2013. He was 30 years old.
The day started with a match between Harrowby Reserves and Colsterworth which ended 4-1 and was followed by a match between Warthogs and Longnecks which resulted in a 9-1 win for Longnecks.
The memorial event also featured a barbecue, bouncy castles and slide, Sumo suit game, a name the teddy competition, raffle, and children’s games.
Local band Ruff ‘n’ Ready played in the evening.
