Grantham residents are being urged to encourage those in their community to save money through the Lincolnshire Energy Switch Scheme.

Households are again invited to register for the scheme, organised by Lincolnshire County Council, South Kesteven District Council, and others throughout the county, administered by collective switching expert, iChoosr Ltd.

They are being asked to support neighbours and friends by showing them the potential huge savings on their gas and electricity bills and help them register their details at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/switch

Up to five households can be registered using a single email account so there is no reason for people who are not online to miss out. Residents who still need additional support can approach their district council for details of how to register in person or by telephone.

Whichever way people register they will need their annual gas or electric statement or bills covering the last 12 months to hand.

iChoosr is also running a ‘Refer a Friend’ competition. If you register online yourself you will receive a confirmation email with the option to let friends and family know about the scheme via their own bespoke referral link.

If they register by that method and you go on to switch to a winning supplier you will be entered in the competition with five prizes, each of £100 worth of High Street vouchers will go to the people with the top five highest number of referrals who register.

Once households have registered their interest, the energy suppliers will be invited to compete with their best offers. The scheme is free for households to join and there is no obligation to take up the winning supplier’s tariff offer.

From the rounds of the scheme run in 2014 the top average individual saving with energy providers was £210.

All can register, whether you rent your home or own it, whether you are on dual fuel, electric only, pay monthly or quarterly or have a prepayment meter.

Karen Lond, lead officer for the councils, said: “Lincolnshire Energy Switch Scheme is seeing an increasing number of people who register across the county switch and benefit from hundreds of pounds of savings on their annual bills.

“Help your residents and neighbours who may be unaware of the scheme to try it and see if the offer is better than their current energy provider. Remember there’s no obligation to accept the offer but it could give them a timely

financial boost for 2015 knowing their energy bills will be lowered for the months ahead.”
