Winners in the Grantham is Great Awards 2012 were revealed tonight (Friday) during a glittering awards ceremony at Belton Woods Hotel.

Shortlisted candidates in nine categories were invited to attend the ceremony in Grantham, organised by the Grantham Journal. Each year, we hold these awards to go some way in recognising the remarkable people who go above and beyond for this town and the people in it.

The 2012 winners are:

Sportsperson of the Year, sponsored by South Kesteven District Council - HANNAH NOUTCH

Runners-up - Carole Foote and Abigail Staff

Carer of the Year, sponsored by The Orders of St John Care Trust - CARL TURNER

Runners-up - Chloe Fardell and Kath Gadd

Child Achiever, sponsored by the National Trust - GEORGIA AND JESSICA BAXTER
