Grantham Journal Big Interview: Employee of the Year Ruby says being a 'Rocketeer is in my blood'
It has been four weeks since Ruby Gallagher, from Rocket Print and Promotions, fought off strong competiton to scoop the award for Employee of the Year at the Grantham Journal Business Awards.
Ruby, 21, was praised for her “incredible grasp for the business at a young age,” by Stephen Parker, of sponsor Oasis Underwriting.
Ruby started working at Rocket Print and Promotions four years ago.
We caught up with her to find out what’s next for her future?
What does it mean to the company to win Employee of the Year?
I know that the company is incredibly proud of my achievement.
They have given me an incredible amount of support and opportunities so it’s an incredible feeling to know it is paying off.
For those who are not aware of the business, please tell us a bit about your background and what you do?
Rocket is an exhibition stand contractor working across the UK and Europe.
We offer reusable systems for a smaller budget, seamless graphic walling for shell schemes and we specialise in large custom-build projects. All our design, print and manufacturing are managed inhouse across both our sites based at Ellesmere Business Park in Grantham.
We have a full installation team who travel the length and breadth of the country for our customers. Each exhibition is managed by our operations team.
What are your main responsibilities?
I am a project manager which means I am assigned different exhibitions and I manage all the customers that fall under that exhibition.
I put them into production, create all the relevant paperwork and liaise with the customer directly.
I also work in graphic design which means I create 3D models/visuals of the stands for the customers and create artwork.
With every job I run, I want the customer to have the best experience possible. Exhibitions can be a stressful time and the more we can manage on behalf of our customers, the better their experience is.
Why do you think you won the award?
I believe I won because I have pushed myself from the very day that I joined Rocket and every day I work as hard as I can.
I have a good work ethic and I am extremely honest, loyal and dedicated to Rocket. I am not afraid to put in the extra hours and we have a ‘whatever it takes’ culture to get the job done. I genuinely care and I think that makes me stand out.
Being a Rocketeer is in my blood.
What will be your next steps?
I want to continue to grow in the company, taking on more responsibility and learning different skills.
I have progressed and learnt a lot over the past four years and I hope to continue at this speed.
