Grantham Journal letter: Busy time ahead for hedgehog carers

Hedgehog numbers are declining.
Hedgehog numbers are declining.

Just an update about Hedgehog Welfare – thank you so much to everyone who came to our annual fundraiser at Foston Village Hall, where we cleared about £900.00 after all the expenses.

That is really wonderful and will really help us this winter, which we think will be really busy as we are already getting lots of calls about really small hedgehogs in people’s gardens and it turned really nippy this morning – nice but cold.

On Sunday, October 25 Hedgehog Welfare is at the Autumn Festival at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Autumn Festival. This reserve is slightly north of Retford but really worth a visit, it is really a fantastic location especially with the old gravel beds making wonderful lakes for the water birds.

Hedgehog Welfare is also giving a talk to members of Notts Wildlife Trust – Newark Branch in Newark Library on the November 5 at 19.30, this event is open to non members as well. The Newark Branch of Notts Wildlife Trust are all great supporters of Hedgehog Welfare.

Come along and see our lovely photographs of our hoglets growing up from birth to release, it is much better that the fireworks!
