Grantham Journal letter: I applaud action of police officers

Last week I had occasion to witness something I have wanted to see for a long time.

I was cycling along New Beacon Road when two police officers, one male, one female, approached a member of the public who was walking his staffy pit bull dog without being attached to a lead. He was reprimanded and the officers produced a lead and marched the dog away.

I applaud the police behaviour to this. Walking these dogs without leads is far too common these days.

Before I get any backlash from these dog lovers, may I remind them that I am fed up of reading of children being maimed, disfigured or killed because of them.
