Grantham Journal letter: Losing seats might prompt Tories to support NHS

John Morgan claims that our Independent candidate in the general election will not save services but may make cuts to Grantham Hospital more likely (Journal, May 26, 2017).

But what if Dr Mahmood were to be elected? After all, Independents have won Parliamentary seats on issues like this in the past.

And what if the Tories lost a handful of seats on the NHS issue? It might prompt any future Conservative government to make a greater effort to support the National Health Service and give it the resources it so badly needs.

It’s worth a try, I’d say.
