Grantham Journal letter: Nightmare of avoiding smokers

Since my heart attack and triple bypass operation, which I attributed to bad eating habits, poor levels of exercise, overweight, and smoking cigarettes, I try to avoid the smoke that spews out of people who are smoking, whether cigarettes or the liquid blow pipe type, by holding my breath to avoid their smoke.

The cancer they exhale is in the clouds of blue and white smoke, indeed, they look like the old steam engines puffing along. I am slightly deaf in my left ear and do not hear cyclists and mobility vehicles coming from behind and with no warning of their approach or the startling speed they are being used.

These pavement vehicles and the smokers are more likely to finish me off than the heart attack would.

Mr F S Jessop, Grantham
