Grantham Journal letter: Surprised MP has shown concern

Last week the Journal covered MP Nick Boles’ concerns regarding the impact Government benefit cuts are having on local people.

While this new interest is welcome, when I went to visit him with a local resident three years ago to bring a warning over the bedroom tax, he had little sympathy for the person concerned.

We can only hope he will persuade George Osborne not to continue his attack on welfare claimants, which is likely to get worse as younger people will be targeted should the Conservatives be re-elected.

It is time we stopped punishing those unable to work and time to start giving all who can work a decent living wage.
