Grantham Journal letter: Tackle those who miss appointments

I agree that fines should be implemented for people who miss their appointments with their GP.

I cannot understand if you are ill why miss an appointment? I think there’s a mentality of a small minority, ‘oh it’s the NHS, it’s free’. That needs to change. It is unfair on the genuine people who need an appointment urgently and who are ill.

However, it is frustrating and annoying when you phone your surgery and cannot get an appointment for two weeks or more. I know someone who is at a country practice and can get an appointment on the same day or the day after, maybe I’ll move to the countryside.
