Grantham Journal letter: Tarmac is the only solution

The repaired verges outside Tesco Express in Keats Avenue, Grantham, have been ruined again.

With regards to the article in the Grantham Journal on January 15 – concerning damage to the verges in Keats Avenue outside the Tesco Express store.

I actually passed by very shortly after the Lincolnshire County Council workers put down fresh topsoil – and what a surprise, a car drove on to and parked on the repaired verge.

Undoubtedly, lorries and heavy vehicles cause a lot of constant damage to the verges and kerb stones, but who in their right mind decided it was a good idea to cover the churned up mess with top soil?

The only sensible solution, which is patently obvious to me, is to cover the verges with tarmac.
