Grantham Journal letter: We need your help to get hands on £1k

Readers got only one vote in the General Election but can cast up to 10 in the Aviva Community Fund ballot for a number of worthwhile local projects.

The Belvoir Castle Cricket & Countryside Trust is one of those bidding for your support. We have put forward a project to extend the Belvoir Bees kwik cricket project to two more venues in the Grantham, Vale of Belvoir and Melton area and to hold an annual tournament with teams from all Bees venues.

The Bees provides around 350 children with 90 minutes of out-of-school activity for 20 weeks over the summer, giving boys and girls aged six to 11 the opportunity to play sport with the help of qualified coaches in an inclusive and fun environment.

The project helps bring families and communities together and the tournament will act as a focal point for the whole season. The Bees is also playing a role in helping to revive junior cricket in the area.

The trust is bidding for £1,000 to help deliver this project and your support is vital if we are to continue to develop sporting opportunities for our children.

Voting ends on May 30 so please make your votes count now. Thank you.
