Grantham Journal letters: Fast food park not needed

By Grantham Reporter

Why do we need another fast food and garage park in Grantham?

I totally agree with the objections raised, as there is already KFC nearby, and enough garages already in the town.

I have just read in the news the United Nations poverty report in the UK by Philip Alston, which everyone should take time to read. In a first world rich country we have record levels of homeless, poverty created by the Government’s austerity measures, and foodbanks. With this comes increased crime and suicide rates, which are already happening.

The sensible thing to do at this brownfield site is to build homes for the homeless so they can get off the streets, claim benefit and get into work. This will help their mental health and lift them out of poverty.

This food park project is short-sighted and nothing more than a money-making scheme for landowners.

If the current trend continues, this country is finished, if not already.
