Have your say

Young Charlie Church is such a generous little boy he is giving up his favourite toys to brighten up the lives of children who have very little.

The five-year-old scoured his playroom for an hour to find toys to fill a Rotary shoebox, which will be an amazing gift for a poor child in an eastern European country.

Proud mum Laura Church said: “I collected the box from the Journal office and explained to Charlie what it was for. He asked no questions, just said he would start looking for some toys to send to another little boy and off he went to his playroom.

“I’m very proud of my son, as when I explained to him the cause he didn’t think twice about giving some of his toys up and the Minions from Despicable Me are his favourite. His words were: ‘I think another little boy would love these mummy’.”

Flat-pack shoeboxes can be collected from the Journal office in High Street and filled with new or quality used toys, teenage items or even household goods. Please attach a £1 coin to the top of the box to cover transport costs.

Filled boxes must be returned to us by Monday, November 11. Rotary deliver your boxes to Eastern Europe.
