Grantham man records his own Christmas song and films video to go with it
A member of Grantham Dramatic Society has recorded a Christmas song and made a video to go with it.
Andy Antony retired from London Underground after 40 years and moved to Grantham last year immersing himself in his passions of writing, music and acting.
Andy says he loves Christmas songs and decided to write his own with an old fashioned ring to it. It is called That Wonderful Time Once Again.
He said: "I have been writing songs for a few years but this one was completed last December in my bedroom! I love Christmas songs but wanted to create a new one with an old sound that could be added to any list. I really think it's a song that could be sung by someone like Michael Buble for instance so I spent the first part of the year trying to find a way of getting it to him. There's no easy way. So my son encouraged me to sing it to get things going."
Andy has shot a video to go with the song with the help of his colleagues at Grantham Dramatic Society and has put it on YouTube.
He said: "YouTube is a great way to get things out there and I thought that visuals would bring it to life. I met Eleanor Johnson at GDS, she has a degree in film and she agreed to film and edit this for me. Hugh and Heather Butterworth were good enough to let me use their house, as well as act in it. Geraldine Lee and Gillie Vincent agreed to be ghosts! It was fun turning a front room into a 1950s Christmas in the heat of this August. I met all of these people through GDS.
"I have joined the Grantham Writers group, Grantham Dramatic Society and the St Peter's Hill Players as well as some U3A groups. Grantham is full of lovely and talented people!"
"I've been really pleased with the feedback so far but need to find ways to push it out farther."
Andy will be on Gravity FM Wednesday, December 12, on Suzie Sparkles' show to chat about it.
