Grantham man confirmed alive following volcanic eruption in New Zealand
The grandparents of a Grantham man who was listed as missing following an eruption in New Zealand have confirmed he is alive and well.
Ashley Joynes, 25, was initially thought to have been involved in the White Island tragedy after his name appeared on a Red Cross list of those feared missing.
But his grandparents, who also live in Grantham, tonight confirmed he was in Auckland at the time of the eruption and not on White Island.
They have spoken to him by mobile phone to confirm he is all right.
