The room was officially opened by Mary Barlow, Director of the Totem Pole at Belton, a training and resource centre which has worked with staff at the nursery.

The baby room is split into bedroom, sitting room and kitchen areas. Nursery manager Kate Wrench said the new room is aimed at the children’s personal, social and emotional development, communication and language and physical development.

Kate said the nursery, which was taken over by Children’s Links in February last year, was a growing success and would be opening an extra hour each day until 6pm from April.

kate said: “We got a ‘good’ from Ofsted last year and we are going from strength to strength. It has been my dream to reopen this baby room and I am really pleased how well it is going.”

Mary said: “It is bringing the joy back into childcare.”
