Poet Gini Dellow, who raises money for the STARS charity, is producing her own hand-made Mother’s Day cards as part of her fund-raising efforts.

The Grantham mother of four has created the cards especially for anyone who wants to send their mum a unique thank you at this time of year.

You can order a card by clicking on the ‘mother’s day card’ link on her blog for a minimum donation of £1.50.

All proceeds from sales of the cards will go directly to STARS, a charity set up to ensure that anyone suffering unexplained loss of consciousness receives the correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Gini’s Ginz & Tonic is a year-long poetry challenge to raise awareness of STARS and she has pledged to blog a poem each day from June 10 2013 to June 10 2014.

Gini suffers from autonomic dysfunction and PoTS, a condition that has plagued her for many years and which was only diagnosed in 2009.

She said: “Raising awareness of is central to this challenge. This charity helps those with unexplained loss of consciousness and blackouts to find suitable help and support. As someone who is in that position, their assistance has been so valuable to me and I just wanted to pay a little bit back.”

Gini added: “I’ve been overwhelmed with the support for this idea and no more so than the statistics which speak for themselves. It’s just a great privelege to be in this position knowing that you’re giving back a little bit to society particularly when you’re laid up with such a condition.

Gini’s blog has received plenty of support and in a short time has attracted more than 500 loyal supporters who receive a poem a day. The blog itself is read by more than 1,000 people a monthand it is estimated that some of the poems have reached between 6,000 and 10,000 people.
