Tree blocks Manthorpe Road after being blown down.

The A607 in Manthorpe has been reopened after a large tree was blown down and blocked the road.

The tree fell at about 10am this morning between St John’s Church and Belton Lane. Police cordoned off the road and diverted traffic while tree surgeons cut up the tree and removed it from the carriageway.

The road was reopened just after 2pm.

Police say some pieces of tree remain on the road but it is passable. The blockage caused tailbacks for several hours.
