Grantham Rock ’n’ Roll legend to grace the stage
Grantham rock ’n’ roll legend Trevor Leeson and funny lady Ali James are set to team up once again to put on a great evening’s entertainment at the Guildhall in Grantham this December.
An Audience With... featuring Trevor Leeson and Ali James is making a welcome return on December 12, following the success of last year’s show presented by Grantham Carnival and Events Group.
Grantham-born Trevor was a member of top Liverpool band the Merseybeats and is an all-round entertainer much sought after on the theatre and nightclub circuit.
Trevor started his career in Grantham in 1958 as a member of the skiffle group called The Rebels. He later toured France with The Pontiacs and by 1969 he was playing bass guitar in a Grantham group called Gingerbread, which regularly featured on Radio 1.
Following appearances alongside The Merseybeats on the island of Jersey, Trevor was invited to join them as their bass player. After a couple of years with the group, in 1974, Trevor decided to go solo and has since worked with the likes of The Electric Light Orchestra and Ken Dodd and can now look back on a successful musical career spanning more than 50 years.
Ali James, real name Alison Hewitt, originally from Wales but living in Grantham, made people laugh all around the world when she entertained on cruise liners.
The event will take place on Saturday, December 12 ,at 7.30pm and will be held in the ballroom at the Guildhall in Grantham.
Tickets will cost £12.50 each (with a light buffet included). To book your tickets, call either Roy Wright on 07796 183392 or Sharon Evans on 07717 311533.
The event, organised by Grantham Carnival and Events Group, will be helping to raise funds towards the major events it puts on throughout the year, including Grantham Carnival, St George on the Green and Christmas on the Green.
