Children prepared and ate their own Roman feast at school.

Years 3 and 4 at Dudley House School in Grantham have been learning about the Romans and class teacher Vicky White decided to combine this with design and technolgy, so the children researched and prepared their own feast.

They made stuffed dormice from Quorn in a pastry case, stuffed dates and honey cakes. The feast was enjoyed by the children of Key Stage 2 and parents were also invited along.

The youngsters also dressed the part for the occasion.

A competition to see who could make the best catapult also featured on the day.

Miss White said: “It was fabulous. The children thought it was amazing because it brought their learning to life. We had them lay on the floor and eat with their fingers, which they thought was a lot of fun.

“We will be continuing with the Roman theme in class and we are now learning about Boudicca.”
