Grantham schoolgirl raises thousands for brain tumour charity




A teenage girl presented a cheque for £6,088.76 to The Brain Tumour Charity.

Chloe Russell, 14, handed over the funds which had been raised at a charity fund-raising ball, at a ceremony at Kelham Hall, near Newark, last Sunday.

Chloe who lives in Gonerby Hill Foot with her parents has neurofibromatosis type 1, a genetic disorder that can affect multiple systems of the body. She has endured 15 neurosurgeries in 10 years and spent much of last year in hospital.

After being too unwell to attend her cadet prom in summer, Chloe’s parents organised a special fund-raising ball at Kelham Hall last month with Chloe as guest of honour. She was joined by 150 guests at the glitzy makeshift ball complete with a three-course meal and disco. Next years event will take place at Kelham Hall on Saturday, September 26 and the family would like to hear from any businesses who wish to be involved with this worthwhile charity.
