The annual Grantham Scouts Christmas Post is launching for its 21st year with the special ‘Scout Stamps’ on sale from next Monday (November 17).
Since starting in 1993, more than 320,000 cards have been delivered raising approximately £41,500 for local scouts.
The groups who deliver the cards receive 15p of the 20p for each stamp on a card delivered in their area, with the remainder going towards district-wide projects.
“Last year over 19,000 cards were delivered, boosting local group funds and at the same time helping to save money for local residents,” said Malcolm Hall, district scout post co-ordinator.
The funds from last year have enabled the purchase of new camping and activity equipment, and it is hoped that with this year’s scouts post they will be able to continue improvements at the Ancaster campsite Dukes Covert, particularly to the climbing tower.
In addition it will be put towards improving storage for the equipment and costumes used in the Gang Shows regularly performed by the scouts.
The scouts will be delivering to addresses within the Grantham NG31 area, plus Barrowby, Gonerby, Harlaxton, Ancaster, Colsterworth and Bottesford, but to no other areas.
The special ‘Scout Stamps’ still cost only 20p each - except for large cards and calendars which will be 40p each - and will be on sale from Monday, November 17 at the outlets listed below, all of which have special posting boxes.
