St Wulfram’s Choir has been given the honour of singing at St Paul’s Cathedral in London over four days this summer.
The choir, made up of 50 singers, 38 of them under 18, will sing at Evensong from Monday to Thursday, August 24 to 27. The choir was invited to sing at St Paul’s on one occasion in 2013. They made such an impression they were invited back.
Tim Williams, director of music at St Wulfram’s, said: “It’s a big honour for a parish church choir to be able to sing at St Paul’s. There is an amazing buzz in the choir at the moment. They are singing with a real excitement and passion.”
The choir has sung at other cathedrals in the past, such as Durham, Lincoln and York Minster, and often people from Grantham will go and hear them. Dr Williams said: “We really appreciate their support when people from Grantham come and hear the choir. We value that support.”
Every summer, choirs are invited to sing at St Paul’s while the cathedral’s own choir is on holiday.
