Great British Bake Off star and firefighter wants to see your dough-nation in charity cake competition
As the popularity of the Great British Bake Off has proved, we are a nation of cake lovers, and now avid bakers in the Grantham area are being asked to show off their finesse with flour and help raise some dough for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The charity, which supports serving and retired firefighters, personnel and their families, has launched its ‘Bake the Difference’ competition nationwide, with the local event taking place at Grantham Fire Station on May 28.
The area’s best bakers are being asked to enter their crumbly creations, which will be judged in terms of taste and design on the day. A cake sale will then follow, to raise funds for the charity.
The icing on the cake is that the day’s winner will be entered into the national competition to win the coveted ‘Golden Rolling Pin’, awarded by GBBO contestant, and London firefighter, Mat Riley.
Those wishing to enter should email firstname.lastname@example.org and bring their cakes to Grantham Fire Station at 10.30am on May 28 in advance of the cake sale, so that they can be judged and photographed.
