Youngsters at Great Ponton Primary School have been learning about the dangers of the sun and how to protect themselves as part of a national campaign.

Headteacher Jon Clack said: “The message is to wear the correct clothes, sun hats, sunglasses and sun cream and encourage children to be safe in the sun by making use of shade and plenty of water. This launch was supported by the Youth Sport Trust and our local sports charity Inspire+.

“We hope that other schools and families will register on the OK Sun Safety website and pledge to be safer in the sun and help prevent skin cancer in the future.”

Casey Stoney, Arsenal and England women’s footballer, launched the national campaign on behalf of the Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code.
