Pub owners have the bottle to start fish and chips takeaway service
A pub is using an innovative ‘direct mailing’ idea to advertise a new dimension to its business.
The Green Man in Ropsley has expanded into the fish and chips takeaway business. In order to spread the word among villagers, pub owners Phil and Leanne Docherty have written a letter to potential customers and put them in bottles which have been labelled.
Phil and Leanne said: “We’ve written a letter to residents, accompanied by our fish and chip takeaway menus and bottled them in bottles we had labelled.
“We’ve seen an incredible uptake of fish and chips in the last few weeks accordingly.”
Their idea has also helped local man Karl Smith who is running in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 28. The couple donated £200 to Karl for his efforts in delivering the bottles around the villages while training for the marathon.”
Karl is raising money for the armed forces charity SSAFA. He said: “I will be running the London Marathon, raising money on behalf of SSAFA, the forces charity. Help me make a real difference to our service personnel, veterans and families when they need help the most. This will be my fourth London marathon for forces charities.
Karl has raised about £1,500 towards his £2,000 target. If you would like to make a donation, go to https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/KarlSmith128
