Police crime news.
Police crime news.

A couple have been left devastated after five ornamental light-up snowmen, which have been the centrepiece of their Christmas decorations for around 18 years, were stolen from their front garden on Maltings Lane in Gonerby Hill Foot.

Glenys Eldred, 71, and her husband Trevor, 75, went to a Christmas service on Monday, but on returning found that their front gate was open and the snowmen had been taken.

Glenys said: “Trevor enjoyed putting them out every year. It is despicable.”

They have contacted the police, who informed them that there have been other Christmas decoration thefts in the area.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, police also received a report that an outdoor Christmas tree and its lights were stolen from an address on Stephenson Avenue in Gonerby Hill Foot.

If you have any information on either of these two incidents, call police on 101.
