Police were called to reports of a man with a knife, which turned out to be teenagers playing a Halloween prank.

At 4.17pm on Saturday, October 24, Lincolnshire Police responded to a report made by a group of boys of a person who was carrying a knife and approached them in the area of Princess Drive park, Grantham.

Officers attended and upon investigation found that two 13-year-old boys had bought a plastic toy knife in preparation for Halloween and had been playing a practical joke.

One of the boys had been wearing a balaclava and exposed the toy knife to see what reaction they would get.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, the boys they played the prank on were alarmed. An apology was made at the time.”
