The Liberal Democrats have unanimously selected district and Stamford town councillor Harrish Bisnauthsing as their prospective parliamentary candidate.

At his selection meeting on Saturday, Mr Bisnauthsing, who also fought the seat in 2010, said: “I want to bring the Liberal Democrat message for a fairer society, a stronger economy and a commitment to educational opportunity to the constituency.

“I am passionate about civil liberties, a good deal for pensioners, parents and young people and making Britain more democratic and egalitarian.”
