A hospital campaigner is organising a protest rally outside Grantham Hospital on Saturday at noon.
Grantham people are urged to join the rally outside the hospital entrance in Manthorpe Road to show the town’s strength of feeling against the night-time closure of the A&E department from Wednesday next week.
The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which manages the hospital along with Lincoln County and Boston Pilgrim, is closing Grantham’s A&E as it struggles to cope with a staffing crisis in Lincoln and Boston - read more on the story here.
The protest rally is being organised by SOS Grantham Hospital campaign organiser, and district and county councillor, Charmaine Morgan.
People will be encouraged to have a say and support a petition demanding the future of Grantham Hospital’s A&E department is secured long-term. It follows comments made earlier this summer by ULHT medical director Suneil Kapadia that Grantham’s A&E is likely to be downgraded to an urgent care centre as part of a package of changes proposed for Lincolnshire, put together by Lincolnshire Health and Care (LHAC).
