MP for Grantham Nick Boles has dismissed the latest concerns raised to the Journal as a tactic to ‘scare’ people.
He believes that there is no truth in the mention of plans to downgrade A&E, and create a GP run Urgent Care Centre in its place.
He said: “I think that this is an unfortunate scandalous scare story.
“I think the letter is unhelpful and is trying to frighten people, it is deeply irresponsible.
“The person who wrote the letter has not seen fit to sign it. There is some disciplinary matter going on and one shouldn’t assume that it was written in A&E.
“I’m confident that the only plans for Grantham’s A&E are to strengthen and modernise it.”
The Journal has spoken to numerous absolutely reliable sources about the letter, and its contents.
We are happy that the concerns in the correspondence are genuine, and are held in good faith.
The Journal will respect the wishes of the sources to protect their anonymity due to their fears that ‘whistle-blowing’ may leave them open to reprisals.
