CASES of infection at Grantham Hospital have reduced in the last year.

New figures from United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust show that in 2010/11 there were just five cases of C- Difficile and no cases of MRSA at the hospital.

In the trust as a whole, there were nine MRSA cases and 94 ‘C-Diff’ infections.

Director of nursing and patient services Sylvia Knight said: “The reductions we have seen have been very impressive, and I am proud of all our staff, patients and visitors who have helped to ensure that we keep our rates of infection as low as possible.

“However, we do have more work to do, as we would like to reduce our rates of infection even further so that we have no avoidable infections at all.”
