Grantham business courses on food hygeine

A new pest control course hosted by South Kesteven District Council is set to support businesses involved with food.

The three-hour session, Effective Pest Management in the Food Sector, is being run in both Stamford and Grantham.

SKDC Food Health and Safety Officer Christian Polzin said: “Having a pest control contractor visit your premises regularly is only part of effective pest management in food businesses.

“This course will help staff at all levels learn how to spot the first signs of an infestation and take quick action to prevent it becoming a major problem.”

The course is aimed at people responsible for food safety management such as owners or directors, managers, chefs, supervisors, food handlers and cleaners. It will cost delegates £35.

Topics will include:

• Common pests in the food and service sector – Rats/mice, wasps, flies, cockroaches, bed bugs, Psocids, birds etc.

• Pest proofing – tips of the trade

• DIY pest control, contracts, risk management and due diligence

The training is on Wednesday 28 November at 9.30am in Stamford and 1.30pm in Grantham. To book or for more information, email healthy@southkesteven.gov.uk

Other courses successfully delivered to local businesses and other councils by SKDC have covered planning, laser, light and cosmetics for Environmental Health, and Police and Criminal Evidence training for internal and external staff.
