Grantham homecoming concert for Jacob Storey and The Choir winners Semi-Toned
A member of an a capella group which won TV series The Choir is heading home to Grantham for a concert at The Guildhall.
Jacob Storey, 20, will perform with his group Semi-Toned in the town on Wednesday, April 3.
The group have been so successful in recent years they have even toured America.
Jacob has lived all his life in Grantham and is a former King’s School student.
He said: “I’m really excited to be singing in Grantham with Semi-Toned. For the past two years we’ve toured the USA over Easter, so it will be great for family and friends from home to get a chance to see us perform a full hour and a half show!
“There are currently nine of us in the group, but this changes year on year depending on the group’s needs with members graduating, going on a year abroad etc.”
Semi-Toned won The Choir, the TV competition presented by Gareth Malone, in 2016. In the last few years the group has appeared for a two week stint at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The group is now going to tour the home towns of its members. The tour is called Semi-Toned: Homecoming.
Jacob is in his third year at Exeter University where the a capella group is based. He is studying mathematics. and is the group’s musical director.
He said: “I haven’t really considered a career in music.I’m currently in my third year of university studying mathematics so I’ll probably be looking to go into something related to that, but whatever I end up doing I’m sure I’ll still be doing something musical on the side.
“I try my best to visit family and friends but I’ve been so busy with university work and being musical director of Semi-Toned that I haven’t actually been back for quite a while, so it will be great to be able to perform for everyone when I get back!”
