Fancy yourself as a steeplechaser?

Horse racing fans will get the chance to prove they are the fastest and fittest and a special “horse racing” enent at this month’s Grantham Folk Festival in Grantham.

The horse racing event, organised by Grantham Rotary Club, will see members of the public don horse costumes and compete in timed qualifying challenges to earn their place in the grand final where they will then have a chance of winning complimentary tickets to Market Rasen racecourse plus other great prizes.

Events will include elements of dressage, cross-country and show-jumping while the timed events will separate the donkeys from the stallions with the ultimate stallion being proven in the final ‘Horse Badminton Trials’.

There will also be separate children’s races with special Shetland pony-sized costumes throughout the afternoon.

The qualifying events will be held at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm and the grand final at 5pm.

The Rotary Club will also be selling raffle tickets to raise more funds towards helping local people with half of all funds raised going towards Inspire+ Mini Olympics and the other half going towards the Rotary Grantham Community Trust fund - specifically the Youth Activities programme.

Grantham Folk Festival will be held on June 15 in Dysart Park, Grantham from noon.
