TEENAGERS hosted a ‘crafty coffee morning’ on Friday for older members of the Grantham community.

The young people, aged 16-19, are working under Lincolnshire County Council’s Young People’s Learning Provision, based at Earlesfield Youth Centre. As well as providing foundation learning, the scheme aims to help them gain social skills and build their confidence.

The coffee morning enabled them to build on these skills, providing refreshments and sharing crafts such as flower arranging, cupcake decorating and jewellery making.

The scheme’s Clare Jones said: “The morning was well attended and gave the learners a chance to mix with other groups, to cater for them and offer them a warm and friendly welcome to their provision.

“All visitors remarked on the success of the morning and how welcoming the learers had made them, one commenting ‘the young people were excellent in every way and should feel very proud of themselves’.”
