A COUPLE who are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first time they met are retracing their steps to where their relationship first began.
And as they first clapped eyes on one another during a fundraising walk in aid of Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), the pair have decided to again do the walk to raise money for the life-saving charity.
Jeremy and Rachel Marshall Roberts met during the RNLI walk in London in 1971.
Rachel said: “We finished the walk running hand in hand across Chelsea Bridge and our relationship grew from there.”
Forty years later and with three additions to the Corby Glen-based family, they return with family and friends to relive the beginning of their journey through life together.
Rachel said: “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and I’m looking forward to showing our boys where we met and lived when we were younger. It will be nice to show them the other side of our lives, pre-children.”
Rachel and Jeremy will be joined by their three sons, Tom, Jamie and Charlie, who now have families of their own.
RNLI events manager Lisa Rutter said: “I hope they have a lovely day.”
