New ice cream business in Grantham offers range of vegan and non-dairy options

A new ice cream and milkshake business offering 20 flavours and a variety of vegan and non-dairy options has opened in Grantham.

Tony Tyler opened the business, called Flavour Fantasies, a few weeks ago on the ground floor of the George Centre.

It is Mr Tyler's first ice cream business. He recently moved from Nottingham and had previously had a bouncy castle business. He now lives in Grantham where he has family.

Mr Tyler said: "It was my intention to do milkshakes, but you need ice cream for a good milkshake and so I decided to sell those as well. I don't think there is anywhere else in Grantham where you can get a decent ice cream. Whether I will be selling ice cream through the winter, I don't know but I will be here in some form."

Mr Tyler has four types of non-dairy milk - oat, soya, coconut, hazelnut - as well as semi-skimmed and full fat milk. Customers can also choose waffles, fresh fruit and chocolate bars. There is gelato and sorbet to buy as well as cold drinks and coffee.

Mr Tyler said the George Centre had been through a bad time but he felt the unit was in a good position. He said: "I think this unit is absolutely perfect for it. I know the centre has struggled but it's a good walkway through so I thought the unit was ideal. It's a minimal set-up and very visible here."

Mr Tyler's ice creams are priced from £1 a cone.
